: Round Eight

Well the day started poorly with 2 defeats in the early games but the U16's and senior teams supplied some grunt near the end of the day.

U12's lost 2-1 to the Northern Tigers

U14's lost 1-0

U16's won 2-1

Reserve grade won 7-0 and first grade won 11-1

The highlight of the day was the presentation to Michelle Carney for her 50th first grade game for the Stingrays. Michelle accepted the award the first of its kind for the Illawarra United Stingrays and then went on a goalscoring blitz 5 goals with co-hort Michelle Heyman 4 goals and even Erica Halloway 2 goals joined the list.
The game was billed as an important one for the Stingrays with Northern Tigers well in the hunt for club championship  points but the seniors dominated from go to wo.

First grade started quickly with 6 goals in the first 24 minutes in a blitz that not only shocked Tigers but also onlookers watching the Stingrays for the first time.

The goalscorers were set up well by the talented defence and midfield that are never mentioned because of the goalscoring duo. Christy Akid, Erica Halloway, Ashley Francis and Casie Halloway allowed no peace for the Tigers defence who were well serve by their keeper in the early stages.

Now for the showdown everyone been waiting for the game against the tightfisted defence of Western NSW and the high flying Stingrays juggernaut attack can the cold weather slow down our girls all I know is that they will be well prepared. With the Stingrays leading in First, Reserve and U16's and foruth in the other 2 grades plenty of effort will go into bringing home the points next week.
